This month is going to be the last month I am in Cameron Highlands. Why ? I am moving to a new place with my hubby the end of this month.
Hubby is now a Branch Manager at an oil palm estate in Lenggong. Some friends in Cameron Highlands tried to persuade me not to leave. They advised me to consider setting up my own business of supplying wholesale flowers to the locals in Lenggong.
This means I travel both places. I have my own business but can still spend time with my hubby.
Too bad that I am not interested to travel both places. It’s going to take me more than 3 hours’ drive and I know this is too tiring for me.

Thinking of driving to Cameron Highlands this holiday ? If you are from Kuala Lumpur, the drive time is about three and a half hours. It is a 295 km drive.
The quickest route is by the North-South Expressway turning in near the town of Tapah. From Tapah you will hit the long winding road (about 60km) to Cameron Highlands.
Driving up to Cameron Highlands is a pleasure in itself, as many interesting stops along the way can be made. You can take a short break at the Kuala Woh Forest Recreation Park. There are picnic areas and a hot spring. (more…)

I was told about this greatest mystery by a local buddy in Cameron Highlands - the complete disappearance of Jim Thompson, often called the Thai Silk King.
He vanished without a trace while staying at one of the highest and most beautiful bungalows at Tanah Rata, called Moonlight, see picture.
On 26 March 1967 in the afternoon, Jim Thompson went for a walk along one of the jungle trails leading from the bungalow and was never seen again. Many said he was carried off by a hungry tiger while some said it was the evil spirits of the jungle. Others said it was the work of the Russian KGB as Jim Thompson was a former CIA agent before he settled in Bangkok.
Due to his high profile, searches were conducted for months but not one search party could find a single trace of this missing person.
After settling comfortably on one of the teak benches at the balcony this morning, hubby announced that we would move back to Ipoh.
I was a bit surprised at his hasty decision, but he assured me that it’s time to leave Cameron Highlands. After all, we have been in this famous tourist attraction for more than 5 years !
Moving back to Ipoh means that I am going to stop all my classes in Cameron Highlands. To be honest, I am happy if I can stop teaching. I have been very bored with my teaching these days.
I have been trying to fork out more time blogging and writing assignments so that I can generate income. As a matter of fact, my income from writing assignments have exceeded my current income from classes.
I have started planning how I am going to decorate my garden with teak garden furniture which have been accumulated dust for some time in the garage. There are some teak benches that we need to move back to Ipoh from Cameron Highlands.
Visitors are attracted to Cameron Highlands largely for a change of climate and pace. As such, activities are nature-based and relaxing with a variety of activities and attractions to suit one’s mood and level of fitness.
Cameron Highlands consists of a series of little townships which include Ringlet, Tanah Rata and Brinchang. The best tourist amenities are sited in or around Tanah Rata but Brinchang is fast catching up with a number of new apartments and restaurants.

There are several tour companies along the main drag in Tanah Rata. Most have tours leaving around 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. and include visits to a tea plantation, where you see the tea-making process; a strawberry farm; a butterfly farm; a rose garden; and the Sam Poh Chinese Buddhist temple. I think they all cost around the RM15 to 20.

The Cameron Highlands are the largest hill resorts in Malaysia. It’s located in Pahang’s north-western corner, at an altitude of 1,829 meters.
The Cameron Highlands were discovered by William Cameron in 1885. In these days the British planters realized that those mountains were very fertile. Because tea was prized commodity among the colonies, they decided to grow tea on the slopes of the Cameron Highlands.
Some of the old bungalows, which British families left behind are still being preserved for viewing by tourists, with a few facilities added for the conveniences of visitors. So, much of the character of the Cameron Highlands has remained unchanged since colonial times. Since that time the Cameron Highlands has developed into a favored getaway among honeymooning couples.
The cool, fresh air on the highlands is also a retreat for city dwellers who want to retreat temporarily from the noise and pollution in the city.

I took this picture of a Hindu Temple near by my apartment while walking down the slope. I was on my way to the bus stop to take a bus to Tanah Rata. And then, I took another bus to Ipoh…;D complicated, right ?
What a great morning ! I went to bed at 4 a.m. and woke up at 8.15 a.m. I feel that I don’t need as much sleep as I do. If I have too much sleep, I will have headache…;D Can you believe it ? It happens so often to me that I have to believe it.
My hubby is still in slumberland, therefore I have to fill my hunger with some muffins and a cup of coffee. Drinking coffee in Cameron Highlands is just haven ! Mmmm…
My hubby is back… though feeling sick. I think he must have had too much pressure due to those seminars that he had those few days.
He was surprised that I put his favorite song,” How Do I Live Without You ? ” on my other blog, My Life, Home & Shopping Reviews.
I am happy that he is back too .. as I am kind of bored here alone in Cameron Highlands. No shopping centers, only some grocery shops.
